BIO
Andrew Lowder ~
Born and raised in Ohio but is currently living and working in Gainesville, Florida. He obtained his BFA in Sculpture from the University of Akron but by all means believes his education has never stopped. He is constantly honing and learning new skills and incorporating them into his work. Working at the Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention he has elevated their exhibits, building one of a kind interactives that incorporate various STEAM concepts.
Andrew identifies as a Maker. He enjoys all aspects of making from budget, design, fabrication, finishing all the way to the installation; but what brings him the most joy is seeing his viewers' interaction with his work. This may include a small piece of jewelry he made, to a large interactive sculpture or exhibit piece for the public. Andrew works with modern technology using 3D Printing, CNC machines and Laser Cutters to create a lot of his work but always embraces hand made elements of finishing and fabrication as much as possible. He believes that the imperfections of the hand gives his work a soft and intimate nature. The mix of high tech and low tech fabrication bring his work to life.
